A Quick Guide To Applying For A Victorian Security Licence
This guide aims to help you develop an overall understanding of the process of applying for a Victorian Security Licence. Individual and business Private Security Applications must now be lodged online via the Victoria Police eServices Portal. To lodge a new application you need to register for an eServices account. The eServices account enables you to complete your application online, track the progress and receive notifications from the Licensing and Regulation Division.
Available Services/Applications with the Licensing & Regulation Division (LRD)
The Licensing & Regulation Division have now made available online the following Victorian Private Security Applications:
- Victorian Private Security Individual Licence Application
- Victorian Private Security Individual Registration Application
- Victorian Private Security Business Licence Application
- Victorian Private Security Business Registration Application
For all business applications, the nominated person of the body corporate, nominated person or sole trader must register for an eServices account and complete the application from their account.
Requirements to create an eServices account
To register for a Victorian Security Licence eServices account, you need to answer basic eligibility questions. If you do not meet the eligibility requirements for a Private Security Licence, you won’t be able to proceed.
Submitting an application online
The applications for both Individual and Business Private Security, must be completed online.
After the completion of form, you need to print the application and return with all supporting documents to the Licensing and Regulation Division via post to GPO Box 2807, Melbourne, 3001.
Items to have ready when completing an application
You are required to provide details from the supporting documents when completing your application online. You also need to send certified copies of these documents to the Licensing and Regulation Division after you have completed your application online.
To make the application process easier, we suggest you have access to the following:
- A secure email address for activating your eServices account and receiving notifications about your application
- Personal information including details of ID documents
- Details of relevant training and statements of results
You need access to a printer, as after completing your application you are required to submit printed documents to the department.
